David Edelman

Biography

David Edelman is a Professor (Clinical) in the department of Surgery

Dr. David A. Edelman is a Professor of Surgery at Wayne State University School of Medicine. He received his undergraduate and medical degree from Wayne State University then completed his general surgery training in 2009. His clinical practice includes MIS, bariatrics, robotics, and endoscopy. His research interests include surgical education and simulation training. In addition to obtaining a Master of Science in Health Professions Education (MSHPEd), he has completed the ASE Surgical Education Research Fellowship (SERF), is a Harvard Macy Institute Scholar, and as attended the ACS Surgeons as Educators Course. He is currently the Program Director of the general surgery program at WSU/DMC and the Associate Program Director of the MIS fellowship based at Harper Hospital. He has previously served as an externship director, clerkship director, and simulation laboratory director. Dr. Edelman is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and past President of the Michigan Chapter of the ACS. He is married to his wife (Nichole) of 19 years and has two boys aged 16 and 18.
