Biography

 Heather Dolman is an Associate Professor (Clinician Educator) in the department of Surgery.

Dr. Heather S. Dolman, M.D., F.A.C.S., F.C.C.M. is an Associate Professor of Surgery at Wayne State University School of Medicine. She received her undergraduate degree from Ohio University (Athens, Ohio) with a Bachelors of Specialized Studies in Medical Anthropology and completed her medical degree at Wright State University School of Medicine (Dayton, Ohio) in 2000. Her postgraduate residency training was performed at Wayne State University/DMC in General Surgery finishing in 2006 with a subsequent fellowship in Surgical Critical Care at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota completed in 2007. She was on staff at the Mayo Clinic from 2007-2008 before returning to the DMC to work mainly at Detroit Receiving Hospital in 2008 where she has remained. Her interests are Trauma Surgery, Acute Care Surgery, and Surgical Critical Care. She is currently the DMC Adult Central Campus Medical Director for the Surgical ICU covering Karmanos, Harper, and Detroit Receiving Hospital SICUs. She is active in many hospital committees as well as surgical local/regional and national committees. She has held many council positions for these surgical groups including President of the Detroit Surgical Association (DSA), President of the Michigan Chapter of the Society of Critical Care Medicine (MCSCCM), Treasurer of the Michigan Chapter of the American College of Surgeons (MCACS), and Program Chair for the Midwest Surgical Association (MSA). She has been recognized nationally with awards for critical care including a Presidential Citation Award for service to the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM). She is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) and a Fellow of Critical Care Medicine (FCCM).
